At this point, I don't care.

The late bell has rung. A couple hundred kids are seated in their desks engaged in the Math lesson for the day or still chatting with their neighbor, totally ignoring the teacher.

Sister Bear is in Pre-Algebra.

Big Sister is in bed.

The 7th grade class and a handful of 8th graders have left for Day 1 of a three day field trip. Not an overnight trip, but an all day adventure, in the sun, walking around- out until 9pm field trip.

Big Sister decided she didn't want to attend. She didn't agree with the cost of the bus driving back and forth for three days- and the theme of the field trip being something 'environmental'.

She's taking a stand.

Today, she's home schooled- she just woke up and she's emptying the dishwasher. She has a huge project to complete afterward... something every teenager avoids, ignores... CLEANING HER ROOM. That could take her 6 hours. I swear. She could learn today, laundry, organizing shelves, dusting, bed making, shoe stocking, vacuuming.

I don't care that she's not on the field trip. If she was at school, she'd be doing crossword puzzles or watching movies, reading books, or just socializing with the cool teacher who stayed behind.

I'm glad she won't be out in the sun. At this point in her school career, 12 days before she's finished with her Middle School experience- what are they going to do? She's an excellent student, she's studied hard and received outstanding grades all year.

Prince Charming and I enjoyed listening to her justify her reasons for not wanting to attend.

My parents would have NEVER allowed me this type of opportunity. My Dad was on the School Board and both parents were way TOO old fashioned.

Prince Charming would have never asked for this type of opportunity. His parents were young and very 'laid-back'.

I think Big Sister (and Sister Bear) are lucky kids. I know Prince Charming and I are lucky parents.

It's going to be a good day.
